Will never join BJP, says TMC MP Sougata Roy | India News

NEW DELHI: TMC MP Sougata Roy on Saturday strongly denied reports of him joining the BJP and slammed Barrackpore BJP MP Arjun Singh as a “third-class” politician and “Bahubali“.
Arjun Singh had made a statement that Sougata Roy along with five other Trinamool MPs are going to join the BJP.
“I firmly stand with my party and will never join the BJP,” Sougata Roy told news agency ANI.
“This is nothing but a part of BJP’s campaign. It is BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya’s technique to spread a lot of fake news,” he added.
Several Trinamool leaders have left the party to join the BJP in Bengal, where assembly elections are due next year.
Sougata Roy’s clarification comes amid rumours and suspense over the move of another senior TMC leader and state minister Suvendu Adhikari leaving the party.
On various instances, like in Nandigram and Midnapore, Adhikari was seen holding public meetings without the party’s symbol, flag or banner.
